It has 302 but im seriously thinking of building a 351 to put in it. this truck runs fairly good but it wont lightem' up.my brother has a set of 373s but i dont know if they will even fit. i have 9" rear i think his 2001 mustang has 8.8 ford rear? Not sure though any advice? build the 302 or put the 351 in her?

Gears from a 2001 8.8 will not work in your 9" rear. A ring and pinion set can be had for a few hundred $$ and then if you have them installed another couple hundred. A rebuild will run about $1500. You need to determine what rear and what gears you currently have. A 302 is not a lot of motor for a 5000 lb brick, but will probably get you good mileage on the highway. The 3:73 would be a good all-round gearing. What do you have for a tranny. What year motor is in there? More info will result in more answers.

the motor is a 1975 and tranny is 3 speed auto on the floor.i turned the wheel one revolution and got 2 and an eigth turns from driveshaft so im guessing maybe 273 gears or higher are in there right now
