I just took delivery on a new 2004 F-250 XLT SC, V-10 with lots of goodies. Had it out towing this weekend and when I stepped back one evening to admire my new baby with the parking and fog lights on, I noticed that the middle amber clearance light was not lit. Is this normal, or should I check for a burnt bulb or loose/bad connection?
Brett,
Easiest thing to do is check the bulb. It could either be burnt out or just loose. The lights are all hooked up together and those harnesses are pretty rugged..
When I took delivery of my 2001 F250 Superduty NONE of the clearance lights would come on. The dealer looked at it a couple of times and had no answers. As it turned out, the wiring harness had never been plugged in at the factory. I got some great help here on locating the plugs and fixed it myself. All lights should come on together, check for either a burned out bulb or possible missing bulb. Good luck!
I have a clearance light out myself, dealer replaced the bulb but it didn't fix it. I am supposed to take it to the dealer where I bought it tomorrow AM, but I don't think I am going to just for a clearance light. I might take it off and just check to see if the socket is good with a voltmeter, but I don't think I will because I don't want Ford to have any reason to say I damaged the truck.
I just dropped my headliner to wire individual (+) leads to each lamp. I made a poor man's Whelan Traffic Bar. The harness is well made and secure in the SD2003. Has your problem been fixed?
