What years for 370?

What years and models of trucks/cars did the 370 come in?, I've never seen one of these before.

IIRC the 370's were primarily a medium truck motor. They were common in F600's for example.

Thanks for the reply, that kind of leaves me curious as to why they would use a 370 in the bigger trucks when a 390 probably cost the same to manufactuer.

The 370 V-8 was used in Medium Duty trucks F-600/F-700, from about 1978 until about 1993. The 370 was the standard gas engine with the HD 429 V-8 being an option. Before the 370/429, Ford used the FT series of engines 330/361/391 which was based on the FE series 332/352/360/390.

So, the 370/429 essentially replaced the FE/FT engines in the Medium duty trucks.
You can probably still find quite a few 370s on the road in older Ford School Buses or medium duty trucks.

The 370 was likely cheaper than a 390 for the simple reason that stamped rockers are cheaper than shaft mounted rockers.

390s were discontinued in the mid '70s. Ford destroked a 429, put crap heads on it, and backed it with either a 10 speed manual or a slushbox automatic to move large trucks with.

It has awful power/torque specs, and only worked because they revved it over 5000 RPM at cruising speed. It guzzled gas and had no reserve power at all. In this day and age, they would use a diesel. In that day and age, they should have used a diesel.

I drove one. It couldn't even get out of it's own way. I'm sure glad I wasn't paying the gas bills.

The 370 is the same stroke as a 429. The bore is what was changed. I think the 370 has the same bore as a 351W, perhaps so that pistons and or rings could be shared.
