Truck Back, Blown Engine Report
and the final report on the blown motor. For anyone who doesn't know, I destroyed the original engine of my truck 7 weeks ago as of Friday. For the details read through the Water/Methanol Injection Thread.
I now have the blown motor, a April 2004 Build motor from a salvaged truck (only 4 miles on truck), and a brand new stock motor (June 2004 build in storage) I am running the salvaged motor for now. It runs great, definately smoother than the original, and has so far gotten great mileage. On the return trip from the dealer in Georgia, the truck got 18.6 mpg highway mileage (18.9 according to the overhead meter) over 212 miles. Since then, driving it around town, my last tank averaged 13.9 mpg. This is on a motor that is not broken in, however I have not been beating on the throttle. The motor now has 830 miles on it, and I loaded the economy mode of the SCMT back in the truck at 750 miles.
I have an Edge Juice and Attitude monitor sitting in the box, however I have not had the opportunity to install it. I will report back with its performance as soon as it gets installed.
As for the blown motor, I will have it back by next thursday, as the dealer is still bolting the pieces back together. I have a new set of pistons and valves ordered and will be with the motor when I pick it up. The high pressure oil pump was destroyed in the disaster, and I will have to order one when I pick the motor up. The overall damage was fairly significant. Pistons #2, 5, 6, 7, and 8 were melted, with 6 and 7 taking the brunt of the damage. 6 had a hole punched clean through to the bottom of the crankcase and the connecting rod was destroyed in the process. 7 had no cone remaining on its face, and chucks of the piston were lying in the cavity on the top. The number 6 glow plug was unseated, however thankfully the threads of the head were unphased and the glow plug itself took the damage. The bores of the damaged cylinders are significantly scarred, however it is not beyond the point of sleeving. The valves were beat all to pieces, and the heads were slighly scratched but can easily be resurfaced as soon as I have them magnafluxed to check for non-evident damage. The rebuild will begin as soon as I get it to the house and stripped completely down. There may be other unseen damage in the bottom end as it has not been taken down beyond the heads, however I will not know until the crank, rods, and pistons are removed.
But anyways, the truck is back up and running. I will quit rambling now
PS-I am officially boycotting Walmart. They refused to sell me Power Service today because I am not 18. I was really, really, really furious at the time
I will just get it from Autozone from now on.

I suspect they did not warranty this.
PSD admits to "tuning" the motor to the point of a "little" abuse that caused the damage and DID not try to get Ford to warranty it after a programmer and water injection and 135 mph
and get high maaaan
Duuude! 6 cetane is almoost pure maaaan
Are these kids nuts
I wonder if the first dummy to try it was high on glue or, paint , or something?

NOT that I would want to shell it out right before closing on this new house...
but not bad at all considering
i was skeered! (over the 13k plus figger being tossed around)
now i find out the motor cost what i just spent on new tile, and a rebuilding of my master bath shower! (freak pipe leak accident big $$$)
ohh yeah, 3 days after i signed closing papers on this house!!!!

but, i am still a little cornfused............
you got, a brand new engine
a used engine, with 4 miles that is now in the truck
a blowed-up motor
why the new one!!!!!?????
seems like the salvage one was good enough, and with 9700 extra bux, you could build that blown 6 into one heck of a motor!
