What we need to do........WITHOUT MATT KNOWING, is start an office pool to see how long this one will last and how much HP/TQ he can get out of it....hope he isn't watching this...
I'm in! I'll take two months, 750HP/1350TQ, 151 MPH and a melted heap of slag that used to be a Torqshift .
And he's not 18 yet. Man I wish I'd have had that much money to put into my car back then. Most of it was going into my girlfriend instead :->
Well, I guess not or I probably wouldn't be here right now. I got into enough trouble with it for the little bit of money I could afford at the time :-)
It was in High Perf tune however this had very little if any to do with it. The stoichometrically incorrect, volatile 60/40 water/methanol mixture was what caused the destruction.
What happened, IMO, really shows the strenght of the connecting rods and other misc. internal parts of the motor, as the motor was able to withstand the force of AT LEAST 5 cylinders constantly detonating long enough for the detonation to actually generate enough heat to melt the pistons. This also proves how those concerned with EGT's need not worry about the turbocharger but the pistons. The pistons are aluminum alloy whereas the turbine blades are steel. I think this has proven the more vulnerable one. I would really love to know what sort of EGT's I was running at 3600-3700 RPM's, at 130-140 miles per hour, slightly uphill, with a tuner on full blast and shooting a very volatile, detonating mixture of methanol at a rate of a good gallon per minute, if not more. If I could guess, I would say it was approaching 1800 degrees.

Im sure the Highway Patrol would lay a golden egg if they clocked an SD at 151...and I doubt the NCDOT would appreciate having to scrape my transmission out of the water grooves in the concrete on I-26
Just thought I would let everyone know, the mechanics donated me a nice 1/2 drive rachet they left dangling down on the intake manifold, and a pair of vice grips they apparently decided to leave clamped on the back of one of the nuts on my brush guard
Got the attitude monitor and edge module installed today. Everything went in great, attidude is gettting good readings as far as I can tell. I have not activated the tuning past level 3 so far because I still have my SCMT in Economy mode. With the edge on stock setting the SCMT is putting out a pre-turbo EGT to a max of about 1100. Did not run the edge any more than to see if it works, Im just going to leave the SCMT in for gas mileage until the motor is broken in better, then I will report back on how it does on stage 5.
Installation was a piece of cake. Drilling the exhaust manifold was a snap after I got it off, however taking the manifold off is a pretty tight squeeze. All in all it didn't even take an hour and a half to do everything, since I already had lots of holes in the firewall to run wires.
I find it very ironic that such politically correct corporations such as Wally World will not even sell diesel additive to a minor- I went into the gun store down the street from my house today and purchased a grand total of $394.87 worth of 5.56mm, .45, .338, and 12 gauge ammunition without having my license checked. Whats wrong with this picture?
PSD.....do you consider yourself a test pilot or the kid who stuck his finger in the wall socket at home?
Good luck on the new project...I am sure we all will be waiting to hear
Actually when he was very young....the finger did get to the socket, and of course found its way into it, at that very moment his dad was opening the front door....nanoseconds later, the young Matt flying parallel to the ground found his way, to the front door, conveniently opened my his unsuspecting father….now this is the time in any story that a single event changes history. For if the dad had not arrived at that very moment …SMACK…..right in to the door…well the door was open and out sailed the self propelled Matt……….made it to the drive way….where he impacted an object………usually the story would end there…kid with big headache…however we are talking about Matt…after the terrific whack on the head eyes blurred and head ringing………guess what the first thing he saw…A Ford truck….and now the rest is really history.

He has a bound with these trucks...
I have to say, Matt has his act WAY more together that I did when I was his age...I predict he will go far in life.
