Hey, I've been in contact w/Concours Parts, and have delt with John's F100s, but who else out there would be a good source from front monos for the Daisy?
Concours and another place run $385 for 3" dropped standard eye monos, and include new bushings and u-bolts with it. John's is $350, but I don't think any other stuff comes with it.
My main concern is - we're heading back to Kansas for part 2 on 8/21, and I need a place that can deliver the springs on time! I can't deal with a place that says "We're at the mercy of the manufacturer". That's not good enough for me. Daisy's my driver, and I need the springs on time.
If anyone has any experience, other sources, or any ideas, let me know. Otherwise, I'll call Concours tomorrow and yell at them.
Sixoh - I bought monos from John's for the rear of my effie and they came with brass bushings already pressed in the spring ends. I also bought their hardware kit, which was very good. They delivered it all within 3 days (UPS). Are these guys saying the "Manufacturer" stuff? I didn't get any thing like that, but I bought mine last year.
Try CPP in California. I ordered some mono leafs for the rear on my '55 from Mid Fifty and they were drop shipped from CPP. The url is www.classicperform.com and they list 57-69 and 61-64 years. Here is a quote from their listing "These springs fit into the original shackles and are easy to install. Our spring kits come with bushings and U-bolts. Available in standard or reversed eye, sold in pairs. New pins & shackles not included." Front springs woth 3" drop are $378
Thanks Randy. I've had good luck w/John's too. It was the other place.
Hey Roger!
Kool, thanks for the info. I wanted another source for this item, because it is a "manufacturer" thing. We'll be back out in Ks. and I NEED the springs there to get on Daisy before all HELL breaks loose!
This will be an extremely busy, and high-profile year, and I can't be held up by complacency.
BTW, I've got Engine Rebuilding this fall semester. I plan on bringing the Y-block in for the do-over. It'd be kool to get it done before we go home next spring.
Hi Shane Talk to John Mummert at www.Ford-Y-Block.com on rebuilding Y blocks. He builds them from mild to wild. He has some excellent tips on rebuilding the engine on his web site so you can avoid assembly mistakes many others have made.
I just finished rebuilding a 9 inch rear axle to put under my '55 F100. Will be mounting it with mono leafs. Right now I am helping a friend setup and old oven to do some powder coating on small parts. A correction to my last post, should have been 57-60 listed not 57-69.
