Well now that I've won the '64 262 I-6 on e-bay I'm waiting to see what S&H is going to be.
Keep your fingers crossed that the Seller tries to get the best deal he can on the S&H, otherwise I'm going to have to makes some calls to see what I can come up w/.
The '64 262 I-6 short block I found in Idaho was trashed, but it looks as if I might have a spare crank/cam shafts & timing gears at least from it.
Wish me luck, I believe I'm going to need it.
Cheers

Reason: Mispelled words & incomplete message
And now my bad news, According to J.M.S., the Builders that have my supposed 262, it's not, so they state.
It's a Twice rebuilt, .40 overbored '64 223 w/ a trashed Crank.
I'm really Ticked Off if this indeed the case.
So it looks as if I'm still in the market for a '64 262 I-6.
Cheers

Have you tried looking at Farm estate auction in your area? Up in Saskatachewan here there are quite a few 63-64 Ford grain trucks with 262's that go very cheap because nobody want's them anymore.
I'm kind of lost, but if I understand right, the 64 from idaho is not a 262. So the extra crank and parts won't work and you paid all that money for crap. You have located another 262 and are awaiting s&h costs. Did I understand you correctly?
Since I don't know jack, I'm assuming the 262 is externally identical to a 223? Flashy, good luck, I will keep my eyes peeled for one. -4speed
The Idaho purchased '64 262 Short Block so far has not been able to be torn down due to the rust that has siezed up the pistons.
I found & won what was supposed to be a '64 262 complete Long Block from a College student in Ill. Well after tearing it down & looking at the cast #'s & Mic'ing the cylinders it turns out to be a 'Totally trashed '63 223 overbored to .040.
So, So far I've been Hosed 3 times now on engines for my truck & I Am Completely & Totally Ticked Off!
Cheers

I've gotten flatheads apart that have have the cylinders rusted REALLY bad. You just can't save the pistons and maybe the rods. You can remove the crank without removing the pistons. I've done it three times.
Take the crank out and soak the pistons with kroil, kerosene or any other penetrating solution. Let it set for a week or so and keep adding to it. Take a block of oak and a 4 pound hand sledge and work with the pistons,,,easy until they move a touch. Should be able to get the pistons loose.
