Can EATS be added after the fact?
Hello, I am a the proud new owner of a _nearly_ loaded "New" '97 4door 4wd XLT.
There are two major issues I have with the truck though:
1. Under-powered. (my bad for buying a base 4.0L)
2. No EATS (something I hope I can change)
I was curious if EATS can be added easily in an after market fasion? Is it just a matter or pulling a headunit from a junkyard?

Hi,
Your first point mentions the truck being underpowered with the standard V6 4.0. I take it this is just the 4.0 OHC. I've got a '97 Eddie Bauer with the 4.0 SOHC and I find this engine a little under-powered as well. I think the V8 would have been a better choice - but as far as mileage is concerned, I guess I'm better off with the V6.
As far as the EATC is concerned, I really don't know if you can pop it in after the fact. There are sensors associated with this so I would think it'd be quite a job. My honest opinion is to stick with the manual temp. control. I find the EATC to be a pain. in AUTO mode it's always sending air into the vehicle through somewhere different based on the internal temp. (vents, floor, defrost, etc.). And in the winter, it always seems warmer in the truck than what I set it for. I've had it checked out and everything is in working order. Maybe it's just me.
