I believe it is a 1968, at least that is what the previous owner and the title say. The reason I question the year is because it has the same type of inside door release/lock handles that my old 1967 had.
Also. does anyone know where I can find a list of original colors for 67-69 F100's? Mine is currently a medium blue, but I'm just beginning restoration and am seriously considering a two tone Lunar Green and Wimbelton White. Please, forgive my ignorance, but I'm just learning.
the f10 refers to you model being a f100 two wheel the a is your engine code being a 240 1 v carb the k is the assembly plant which is kansas city mo the d31863 is the
unit number the 115 refers to your wheel base the 7 is the paint code the f100 is the model the k81 is the cab or body type the c refers to your tranny the 09 is your rear
axle code the 5000 is your gvw the 121 is the hourse power rating the 3800 is the rpm which the motor should atain that the 63 is a district special order number.
The rivets are hollow, but the plate looks as if it may have been tampered with. I can't be sure.
What I do know for sure is that I used to have a '67, and it had the same kind of door release/lock handles. I actually like the '67 style handles, but the door panels are a lot harder to find than 68-69 types.
What seems so odd is that the person who did the door change, if that is what happened, changed BOTH doors. Oh well, at least they are rust free and the truck is in process of being disassembled for restoration.
being that it was still early enough in 68 could they have still been using extra 67 doors when they put his truck together ? I have heard of car companies doing that before
That's true but I don't think in this case. '68 production ran from Aug. '67 to Aug. '68 so May would be late in the cycle. Plus the change to the hidden door releases was required in '68 due to some Federal safety mandates that went into affect for that year.
RangerDave, do you think it maybe the whole cab is a '67? An easy way to tell is the heater controls are pull-out ***** instead of the sliders. That was another federal safety mandate for '68.
that could be but then the ident tag would still had to of been changed or the numbers from the 68 title wouldnt match the 67 cab. RangerDave does it look like they may have cut a piece out of the door and replaced the tag with metal and all, I know this is a little far fetched but that could be the case.
