I recently had a new engine installed in my '97 F150. When going to my local emission test station it failed and gave a 'drive cycle not ready' error message. After driving 125 miles the 'check engine 'lite came on. Autozone checked the code and it said 'EGR valve' was the culprit. I replaced the EGR valve. While under the hood I noticed my battery terminals were not greased. I like to grease them..so I disconnected the battery terminals ,applied the grease and reinstalled the battery cables. Upon start-up the 'Check Engine ' lite was out so I went back to the emission test station. Again, it failed with the 'Drive cycle ' not complete code. Does anyone know what the drive cycle is , (a Ford rep told me between 60 -75 miles). I think this had something to do with me disconnecting the battery which ultimately led to the Check Engin lite to extinguish.
generally speaking most 96 and newer vehicles OBD-2 /drive cycle = 2 trips 50 miles each trip
next which code did you get at Autozone?? P0401 by chance P0401=EGR insuficient flow
OK, disconnesting the battery, reset your computer IE(same problem as before) drive cylce incomplete. as far as the check engine light coming back on there is still a problem(RECHECK FOR CODES) post them and i will try to help you through it.
