Back from Second Tow with the 6

Howdy folks. I really still am alive after all. I just finished the second tow trip with "the rig". I've got it up to almost 11,000 miles now with no trouble to speak of yet.

The rig, as we call it, is my 2004 F-350 CC 4x4 6.0 PSD Torqshift (Feb 2004 Motor and Tranny) attached to a 7000# Exiss Auto Transporter. I made the trip from Berwyn to Wickenburg this time with a 96 Bronco on the back. I loaded up the back of the truck with forklift parts, a vintage dirt bike, two lawnmowers, and some woodworking tools. Brother and I made it out in 2.5 days straight through.

Truck weight appx 6800 lbs
Trailer Weight 1500 lbs
Bronco Weight appx 5000 lbs
Stuff in Bed 2500 lbs

Total weight: appx 15800 lbs

On the way back we took the empty trailer only. That trip took 45 hours straight through.

True to my word, I've put up my fuel log below:

Well, that's my contribution to the MPG/Problem folks. I haven't had any problems at all with it and am very pleased. I do wish it had a glovebox light though.

Thumbs up Billy577

I just finished a trip from IN to north TX pulling a combine head wagon loaded with a combine header, probably in the 8K to 10K towing range, 03,6.0, CC, 4X4, with 21K milage and the predator installed at the 65hp, pleasure mode. The terms heard along the way were, "just passed by a rocket ship", was that truck pulling that thing or was that thing pushing that truck?" The temperature was 104 in Little Rock and we had to quit early as the tires were melting on the head wagon. I averaged 11.2mpg on the way down and 16.5 on the return trip pulling only the head wagon. This is comparable to the 30ft 5th wheel camper I pull also. The further south I drove the better the fuel milage. The truck has been mostly trouble free. I had it flashed for the tranny shifting and like the others lost my quiet engine, but I have had Ford Diesel trucks since 1984 so the little growl out front is expected and enjoyed. I am like the old bull in the pasture with the young bull who was wanting to charge into the waiting cow herd for fast action. I encourage those with problems to have patience and later enjoy the entire pleasure. The good side of this truck by far exceeds any of the aggravations, that are being addressed. I have an 05 coming in August and can't wait to hook it up and let it loose. We farmers often judge each other by the pickup we drive. The 6.0, PSD, always earns a prime parking spot at the coffee shop. I think the Preditor should come as optional equipment from the factory. One tip on fueling your truck. When it clicks off, pull the hose out and tip it up a little as you gently squeeze the trigger and watch the non foaming fuel finish you tank off. This is how I calibrate my mileage. Question, Does anyone with an 05 truck have the factory installed brake controller? I was told that is not going to be available even though we are told it is advertised on the order sheet. Sorry for the long post but there is just so much to say good about this great piece of equipment.
