Turn 1979 F150 4x4 into 4x2
I've got an odd question:
Can I swap out the front axle and suspension of my 1979 F150 4x4 to convert it to a 2wd? Are the mounts the same for the springs, shocks, and I-beams (radius arm?)? Is it a simple swap or are the mounting points all different? I have the service manual, but I can't really tell from the pictures if its the same. Logically speaking you'd think it would be this easy, but then again I wouldn't bet on it. TIA.

Well its kind of all in set up. I had put a 1950 Ford F3 body on a 79 chassis, and the way the body fit on the frame I could fit 33" tires, and it was fun, pretty unique cruiser. But I never offroad it, its pretty much a cruiser, so I'm looking to move to just a normal truck stance, not a low rider or anything. Oh also with the 33" tires, I can't fit in my garage, I have to lower the tire pressure and roll it in. Plus I had previously contemplated switching to an auto trans, and that takes new driveshafts anyways. Call me a glutton for punishment I guess.
