Difference between 1979 and 1980 tops

I know I have seen it on here somewhere but now I can't find it. Someone asked about putting a 1980-96 cap on a 1979. The answer was that the back of the cab is shaped different and the cap won't fit. But I don't remember the specifics.
I want to buy a new soft top that is not available for 78-79 Broncos and want to know how much different the cabs really are. If I can modify a 80-96 soft top to fit my 79 I may do that.

Do you mean you have a certain top in mind for it already? Have you checked out http://broncograveyard.com/products/cat/18/19 ?

Yeah, I should have mentioned I want the new zip out top that STC is making for the 80-96. I have had the old style STC top on my '88 and now its time to finally get one for my '79 but I want the zip out sides.
