2001 automatic to manual hubs?

2001 automatic to manual hubs?
Would installing manual hubs on my 2001 4x4f150 save any wear from my front axles or save me any mpg? is it a reasonable thing to do? I dont mind hoping out of the truck to lock up whenI need to.. anyone els thought of this or done it? does anyone make a kit to do it?
