That means that if you put the chip back in and something bad does happen, your dealer will definately void your engine warranty.

Personally, I rolled the dice at about 12K miles and never looked back. I couldn't stand to drive a stock engine anymore. You'll have to make the decision for yourself........

I would let the dealer know that he owes you $400 for the chip if he didn't give it to you. If it was in the truck when you bought it, you own it.

Yeah the tech that pulled it is enjoying it right now in HIS truck.

I know with my Banks the engine is still under warranty, but if Ford wants to claim that any problems were directly caused by the chip, I'm screwed.

Technically, nobody's chip actually voids the warranty just by installing it, but all the tech. has to do is say the chip caused whatever problem and that's that.

There are a few dealers out there that are chip friendly, but corporate puts a lot of pressure on them to seek and destroy on chip users.

You're best bet is to plan on becoming your own warranty provider the first time you install the program. You might get lucky and find a dealer that will honor it with a chip, but.....

The axiom "you gotta pay if you wanna play" has never been more true than for the modified diesel crowd.

You also have the option to go with one of the hand held programmers. That way if you have to take it to the dealer for engine service you can detune it, also none of the programmers you get now leave a ghost in the ECM that way the Dealer will never know it was there.
