Question Air return lines from Cat??

I have two steel air return lines, coming off the top of my cat, going to the engine....When replacing my cat, I cut them off the old one. Do I need them, or can I get rid of them...performance problems??? It's a 1988 F350 EFI 460, C6 3 speed, 1 ton.

Thanks so much for your help!!

Those Lines Come From The Air Injection Pump And Feed Air To The Front And Middle Sections Of The Cat. If You Still Have The Pump On There, And If You Need It For Smog, I'd Put Them Back On. If No Pump, Forget Them. With The Air Lines Disconnected You Will Experience Zero Performance Problems Over Having Them Installed.

If you have an o2 sensor after your cats you better put those hoses back on cuz your sensors are going to be getting negative info and the computer is going to adjust like wise to what the o2 senor is telling it.

Why not just put them back on, isnt going to help performance anyways. And it sure isnt going to help your emissions.

They aren't needed, we have a 90 with a 460 and no cat, no probs. Unless you need them for smog as stated by BSHORT.
