does anyone know if those cheap $2.00 ECU speed chips made for explorers actually add horspower? Also anyone know if they are bad in anyway for example lower mpg? Thanks.
E-bay specials: they place a cheap (less than one dollar) resistor in place of the intake air temperature sensor and "trick" the PCM into placing a richer fuel mixture into the chambers- thus allowing for some increased power. Long term use results in excessive engine wear, clogged catalytic converters, and poor fuel economy.
I would reccomend going with an @PT3N Chip, they offer superior tuning to all the other chips on the market becuase they write their own code instead of using off the shelf programing....
Much better gains....
just reading through your post... what is @pt3n ? I cannot find on any search.
They used to be a good company to go through to get chips, but since their prime employee/programmer left, its not as good as it used to be. If you are looking for a chip, I would recommend checking with one of this site's sponsors: www.motorhaven.com
