What is the Ford Pickup Red Book 1946-77 by Motorbooks International? What kind of information is in it? Would an owner of a '46-77 Ford truck find it useful? Is it technical or general? Illustrated or not? How many pages? Sample chapter titles? Does it have info not available from contemporary sources? Thanks for any info.
LB, is Motorbooks Intn. the author. Puchased a CD called the 'Ford pickup red book' by Peter c. Sessler. 3/04 version. Covers 46-93 ford pickup. Also has some data on the econoline truck, and ranchero. Not sure if same as book you are referring to. Pd. about $11, which included shipping. IMO, disappointed, would prefer if there had been illustrations, and/or pic's. Covers Production #'s, Int./Ext. paint codes, Prod. locations, axle, engine, trans codes, options, etc. There are about 3-4 paragraphs of info. for each truck, not sure if info that informative. CD also covers chevy pickups, and GTO. Have seen Ford part supplier's catalogs w/ simular info. Basically scroll down list of data on the vehcile.
Anyhow, will be interesting in comparing if member has the actual book, don't think CD is same. Purchased thru ebay, have not seen item since. If interested may try ebay search, or email and will send you CD to look at.
The Red Book is an info book, actually a booklet that helps you breakdown VIN's, gives you some production numbers, and a brief history. If you want more pictures and info in a traditional book, I would suggest the Crestline book, Ford Trucks Since 1905. Lots of photos, and text. Be forewarned, that it covers the heavy truck line also. Mine was printed in 1978, there may be an updated version, but I do not know. The ISBN Number is: 0-912612-10-X . Barnes and Noble, or most other bookstores should be able to order it for you if you give them the ISBN. It was still in the Motorbooks International catalog last that I checked. Andy
If interested suggest trying 'bookfinders.com' they will provide list beginning with used to new books. Have purchased some good used books. Alibris.com is another used book finder.
