Do you mean the SES (service engine soon) light?
When the SES is triggered under the circumstances you mentioned it is normally from overboost, or ICP out of range if you have a chip or tuner installed. If you do not have a power adder I would suspect a faulty exhaust backpressure sensor, or a plugged EBS tube (also possible with a chip).
The easiest way to narrow it down would be to take it to autozone or somewhere and have the codes pulled.
