Used to do Michelob as teenager (too sweet) Bud just because (Headache in a bottle, plus destroys the innards the next day) Red Dog when it first hit here (absolute crap) and Old Milwaukee when I was a very young Dad and Family man (very inexpensive, same innards problem as Bud!)
I miss Hamm's a lot, stopped seeing here in Michigan a while ago. Now it's either Pabst or High Life. And the rare sip of some fine Tennessee moonshine (blue flame test) when I can get it.
I'm kinda surprised that no one's mentioned LaBatte's, especially with all the Canadians on here. They're doing a lot of advertising in our area lately. Never tried it myself, I don't drink beer anyway, nasty stuff. All that I've tried just tastes the same to me anyway. I don't drink Panther pee either, but I imagine the taste is similar. I'm more of a Dr. Pepper type, I avoid alcohol altogether. I don't begrudge anyone else their brew, though...in moderation. -TD
Nice to hear from the homebrewers - nothing like brewing your own to give you insight into the factory brews. I'm gravitating to the darker ales as I get better at the craft.
If we're talking about factory brews, here goes:
Fat Tire Amber Ale (New Belgium Brewing puts out great stuff)
Sol (mexican brew that is slightly hoppier than Corona - cheaper too, plus you don't have to peel the labels to fill with your own homebrew)
Pyramid Apricot Ale
Moosehead - tastes great after mowing the lawn.
BTW, I own stock in Anheiser Busch, so party on BUD drinkers!
Heinekin sometimes tastes skunky due to being "lightstruck" - UV light penetrates clear and green bottles easily, and forms mercaptans (the same chemical that is added to propane to make it smell nasty). The brown bottles are best at guarding against this. So don't leave your beer where it can be hit by sunlight or fluorescent lighting.
Pacifico is excellent brew, made in Mazatlan where I vacation every winter. They have the heaviest bottle out there. If your ever in a bar fight, reach for a Pacifico bottle!
Absinthe is still as good as when Van G. cut his ear off, get q bottle of Czech Strong- Usually you can find it a Ebay for around $100 a bottle. It will give you the the feel you are looking for and your friends are not.Taste alot like Perno it's legal cousin. If you travel in Europe it is almost a daily ritual to drink it. Stay with Czech strong when purchasing it as other brands are not regulated and you will probably just get ripped off or a inflated liver. Have fun- everyone around you might not though.....
Hey guys, it dosen't get better than this, "Cold Suds, FE Engines and good old US of A".
Now this calls for a brew. Carl..................................o&o>........ ...........................
