What are some of you guys out there with the 5.4 or V10 getting for fuel mileage in your superduties? I own a 2004 F350 PSD and wanted to see what the fuel mileage difference was. Don't worry....I didn't buy it for the mileage
Since I figured that for every 100 mile posts, my truck only registers 95.6 miles (4.4% speedo error because of 33x10R16 tires) my mileage is much better than I thought. Unloaded it is 13 city, 19 hwy. With an 8000lbs boat in tow, hwy mileage is anywhere from 10 to 12 mpg. Last trip was 780 miles and I used 42 gallons, which is about 18.6 MPG.
On edit: Cruising empty is between 60 and 65 mph, and with the boat from 55-60 mph. No NASCAR Craftsmen truck series driving here.
My brand new CC 4x4 V10 F350 automatic w/4.30's just got back from NY last Wednesday. Average fuel mileage for the 1400 mile trip was 12.994 mpg. Best tank was about 13.5 and that was down I-81 from Carlisle PA, some back road driving east out of Winchester VA, up onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and across to Lynchburg VA. Worst tank was blasting down I-95 at about 78-84mph, It was around 12.4. I thought that was quite good for a brand new truck that was not even broken in.
Since I got back I have gone through one tank in almost all city driving, it got 10.5 mpg on that one.
