Has anyone with the Audiophile changed out the speakers and if you did, which brand did you use? The Car/Audio specialist here recommended that I replace them because I'm changing out the head unit with the Kenwood DVD/NAV system. Is it worth the hastle or should I just leave it be??
They also said they have to leave the stock alarm system in there which can still be activated if I wanted to use it but why since I'm having them install a high-end alarm? hopefully someone can help, thx in advance too.
asinatra, thanx... do you have any reccomendations as to speaker choices? I can trust the installers but I may be paying for something I don't really need.
I dont have the audiofile system, but I replaced mine with alpine component system. I got it on onlinecarstereo.com they are SPS-571-A. They were 139.00 with free shipping. Also they come with different tweeter mounts if you want to put them in different places. They are 5x7 so they fit.
Is that a sub box under your rear seat in the galery. If so did you make it or is it the unit that is with the audio phile system. I know that you do not have the audio system just wanted to see if that is it. Looking to modify mine soon after I work out the minor bugs, rear end and brakes.
Look at Infinity Kappa or Reference series 5x7-6x8 (same speaker) Very high end. I have the Kappa 572.5 series in my 04 STX and with an aftermarket head unit they sound very good.
TX, the sub box is bought. It is from musicmooseaudio.com It is for 2-10" subs, it is good for the application. I think it could have more lower end bass but the size limits it. Although the sound is very good. Hope that helps
I didn't have tha Audiophile system, so when I got my Kenwood system, I added Infinity components in the front and 6 X 8's in back. I think the model numbers are listed in my gallery. They sound great, although a sub would add a little more depth.
Hawaiian style
I have the audiophile stereo, and love the speakers, they sound great, even turned up loud, so whiy would you want to change them. I live here on Maui, and I think maybe they just want you to spend more money, and in the end, they would take those from you and resell them to someone else, as they are gooood speakers, IMO.
Aloha,
I just changed out my speakers only and what a difference it made. The factory speakers are cheap.I went with Kenwood kfc-x688c in front and rear.I left the factory tweeters and crossover in front and spliced the kenwoods before the crossover.Sub I left alone for now.
If I were to change out the hu I would of went jl or mb on the speakers but definitely change them out.
