Looks pretty clean. The only major drawback is that the 98 didn't have PI heads so it doesn't have as much power as the 99-up. How many miles are on it?
No idea on any other things on it besides what shows on the webpage so that sucks. I am going to be calling the dealership tomorrow though. And another drawback is that this dealership is more than 250 miles away from where I live.
I'll let you know the details tomorrow.
Could I get some more information on what PI heads are? and how much power is not there? Sorry im just not an engine junkie
is there an old thread or two i can search through that would contain information on the 98 model 4.6L?? such as the drawbacks and better sides of it??
The PI heads have a larger, redesigned intake port and are designed to swirl the air/fuel mixture better in the cylinders. The HP went up 35 in 99. The intake manifold was also redesigned to match the heads. I believe the cams have a different profile as well.
If you could get it for 6500 or less, I'd go for it. Even if you put an engine in it later, you will still have a nice truck for under $10,000.
You really think having a 161K engine is worth hving to worry about constant repair??
How long do these 4.6 bad boys usually last if they are treated "nice" haha....
Because If i get that truck it will be getting a lift, tires, offroadin rims....good thing to do in indiana.
you think it will last long with that kind of mods on it?
It would probably last awhile. I personally suggest the 5.4L if you plan on running taller tires and such. They have a lot more torque and will pull the weight better. That's my personal opinion, though.
Yea I agree with you too....My dad has a 1999 F-250 Superduty 5.4L and it gets like 10-12 mpg so I'm not so sure about that. My 01 4.2L f150 gets 18 or so mpg and I love that part of my truck, I just want something that I cant put the lift and tires on and still have lotsa extra power leftover...
My F150 gets about 14 around town. The SuperDUty trucks have a looser torque converter and usually 3.73 or lower gears. My SuperCab 4x4 gets about 14mpg with 5.4L,4R70W tranny, on the fly 4x4, 3.55LS gears and 265/70R17 tires.
Plus the SD is heavier than the F150's.
