I need to replace the miniature bulb inside my Fog Lamp Switch on my 95 Explorer. My dealers have no part number for the bulb. The bulb is very small, 1/8" diameter by 3/8" long. It is attached to a plastic base 1/4" diameter. This lamp assembly installs/removes with a twist. A blue sleeve/filter is installed over the bulb but is removable.
The switch assembly part number is F57B-15K218-AB. The switch is $25. I'm trying to get by a little cheaper.
Sorry to break it to you, but they do not sell those bulbs separately.
I blew that bulb, and the bulb in the headlight switch when I rewired my fog lights to run when the parking lights are on. The only way to get those bulbs are to buy the entire switch. Have gone through a couple of them myself.
I'm a huge Ford fan but stuff like this just ticks me off. These switches were designed by Ford to include a serviceable light bulb. That is why they are removable. The parts side of company either overlooked this item for distribution/stocking or they are just overly greedy.
Like Cobra Said...Its probably easier to just wire your lights into your parking lights, but if you dont want to do that you can just replace the switch with one from Radio Shack. They have tons of switches for all types of applications...from obnoxious to barely noticible, and were talking nickle and dime pricing.
My switch works fine, the fog lamps are functional. The factory switch is located in the center trim section of the dash. I don't need a switch, I just want a $2 bulb. Aaaargh.
I was just saying for all the hassle it seems to be to find a bulb, you could just replace the switch..geesh, probably get a whole new "Lighted" switch for 2 bucks.
