Can someone with first hand experience recommend a good supplier for 65 F100 rubber pads (bushings, insulators, etc) and hardware for the radiator support and the cab mounts? A sponsor of the site preferably.
Also are there two different versions for 65 models? Where is the cutoff for early/late 1965?
There are some generic radiator mounts covering several truck years. Suggest select mounts that are specific for the 65/66. They will usually cost twice the generic, but will reduce alignment problems down the road. If you see the two items you can notice difference. Usually can go to the parts supplier's online catalog and see the item. Suggest follow up and order online. Ask if part is in stock so you are not waiting weeks to reassemble. You can also discuss the item w/ salesperson. Could not find in Autokrafter, or Motorhaven. D.C, as mentioned above, or John's F100 has them. Emphasis calling to place order to find if in stock.
I believe DC is suppling most aftermarkets with these parts. I ordered mine from Sacremento Vintage Ford and all parts were stamped with Dennis Carpenter on them.
FYI.
I bought a kit from one of the well-known reproduction parts suppliers. The kit consisted of washers, nuts and bolts of incorrect sizes and of the lowest quality, and what appeared to be a bunch of very cheap hockey pucks. The kit was unusable. I cannot remember the supplier - I would name it if I could. I urge you to find Ford parts; even a collection of good used stuff would be way better than the junk I was sold.
I was under my '74 yesterday, wondering why '73-'79 parts would not work. They look the same. Anyone know more about this? I'm thinking the later mount kit might still be available from Ford.
Eric
Not sure if can use later model kit. Don't have local supplier to compare kits. Initially purchased set from Ford supplier for about $25 and had simular experience as 6t6merc. Inferior and had problems with alignment. Scrapped them and went w/ the $60 set that appeared simular to original, but not same. Find there are some repo items that are poor substitutes, or need some form of modification. Believe if run search on topic will find a member who said he intended to use hocky pucks for cab mounts, not sure if included radiator mounts. Strongly suggest keep original part until project is completed. Useful for comparison, and on occasion may need to use item off original that is not included with repo. Only purchase from supplier's with return policy, and save receipts.
Had an urge to chime in.
good luck,
