What's up I"m new!

Just purchased, 04 f350 turbo D,FX4. rrrrrraaaaaaaghghhhhhhhh!

I love it! I'm new to the turbo D world, but am learning quickly. I've been searching around in the faqs and threads about winches. I'm looking to get a good winch. Anybody know of any makers, preferably that hide behind the front bumper?

Thanks matt

Good Luck!

yeah I found warn, haven't checked milemarker yet, I was just looking for some personal experience, and I'm wondering if any of these have a mounting kit that goes behind the bumper? Also I guess I'm gonna call them and ask what power rating I should go with, probably the 8 thousand pound, doesn't have to be high speed, just want to be able to pull my trailer or my buddies out of the sand.

Hoss,

The best you will be able to do with hiding it is a kit that kicks out your standard bumper 4" by warn. I do not have one "yet" but I have done alot of looking also.

i saw a XL superduty on the lot the other day that had a winch on the front, tucked behind the stock bumper.... it did not look spaced out, although i guess it had to be. had the xl appearance package, so looked alot like an xlt.... i really like the look of the stock bumper, and cannot stand those monstosities most people put on the front of their trucks when they want a winch.... anyone have pics of a hidden winch installed on a sd?
i also think a 12k would be the way to go, if not bigger..... these trucks are sooooooooo heavy, and iffin yer stuck in the mud, it could easily over tax a 8k winch. might even want a 16k!

That's what I'm starting to think, the few extra hundred dollars, might definately be worth being able to pull my big a$$ out, especailly in deep sand, that stuff puts so much extra drag on a winch it's crazy.
