I have had a overheating problem every summer when setting
in traffic or at stop lights. Today I put 1 pint of Royal Purple
Purple Ice in the radiator and was simply amazed at the results . Never got hot once today ( and I drove the hell out of it all day)
Best 10 bucks I ever spent.
So how does that stuff work? I can see how anti-freeze or pressure can raise the boiling termperature but how does an additive actually make the engine run cooler? Thanks.

A problem with overheating while sitting in traffic is usually a problem with the fan system, either a bad fan clutch, missing or improper shroud, or improper fan.
A high stall speed torque converter and high idle speed can also build heat from an auto tranny.
I agree it all about air flow at idle. I have been looking at electric fan to improve air flow . But if this additive works as good as it did today problem solved.
How can you tell if torgue converter is to high of stall speed ?
by shift points ?
If your engine and transmission are stock you don't have to worry. High stall converters are used to make it so you can drive an engine with a big cam on the street. The higher stall speed converter is used to get the engine into it's power band for operation.
