I use this site to find out more about my 90 f150 but now I have to work on my wifes pontiac is there a site like this one for pontiac? Sorry for the stupid question
I might be able to help, I'm an ex GM tech and worked on Oldsmobiles, which are mechanicly similar. If you can't find a Pontiac forum, I'd be glad to help if I can. You might need to open that thread in the General Automotive Forum however.
Ok thanks my wife has a 95 pontiac grand prix in park or neutral runs great and when it is put in drive or reverse it just dies just as if you turned the key off and sometimes it sputters and dies. Just installed a new module no change and I also have a ne cam shaft sen "not installed yet" check engine light came on about 2 weeks ago and it was and egr #2 sol but from my understanding that will not cause this problem but the was the wires look does the egr wires tie into the egr wireing. thanks again
First off, it it a 3 speed or 4 speed automatic? If the gear selector is P-R-N-OD-D-2-1 it's a 4 speed and you don't have to worry about what I'm about to say. If the trans has P-R-N-D-2-1, then you might have a problem with the lockup torque converter. Is this a bigger problem hot, or cold? The THM-125C is notorious for engaging the lockup converter all the time when hot, causing this condition. But the car would run fine cold. Other things to consider are the fuel pressure (might have enough to idle engine, but not enough to support any load), or a faulty Mass Airflow Sensor. You didn't specify an engine, so that's all I have for you at the moment. Let me know about the trans and the engine type, and I'll see what I can do.
Well thanks for your input on this but when I got home I installed the cam shaft pos sen and that fixed it. Now it runs like a scaulded dog again, thanks again
I need to find a Pontiac forum as well. I have a 1972 Pontiac Ventura (Pontiac's Nova), and I'd like a forum as helpful as this one for that car, it'd be a help when I get going on the restoration next month.
