When i first crank it up 1992 bronco 351 idles as usual high idle then off to 800rpms then will idle between 800-1000 (SURGES)0nly at first crank up , after running it a while it idles ok any suggestions? TR
I have the same problem with my 91 bronco 302, haven't nailed anything down yet, but I heard talk of it being the transmission. Anyways, my tranny is almost done being rebuilt so I will let you know if that changes things. Although I imagine its probably a sensor or something.
2 possible things. TPS or the IAC . both are on the throttle body. the tps is located on the bottom an the iac is on the side. take them off and clean them along with the throttle body. you must use specific throttle body cleaner because of the coating inside . regular carb cleaner is not good to use. once these are clean, disconnect battery for 15mins . reconnect and drive for awhile so the ecu can relearn.

I appreciate it kemical, I know idle problems seem to plague our rides-- i do remember the days of no computer and, gas was cheap---- who cared about gas mileage it was power 100% will do as mentioned thanks TR
It's in the throttle body, I know for 100% for that I've had it off about 10 times now. It only sticks when the motor is running, the vac puts pressure on the butterfly valves, and that is when is sticks. Anyone have a new one for cheap?-lol
