I have an 03 expedition. Been going round and round with the front end shake. Had new tires under warranty, now, 5k later, it is starting to happen again and I am now out of warranty. Should this problem be covered as an earlier episode that wasn't fixed properly or am I out of luck. What is the consensus here? You can see my experiences if you search for my posts.
The front end shake is the one I want fixed, but I'm not counting on it. My truck was an early 03 and there was no TSB out 2 months ago when I had it serviced.
I guess your first step is to get it diagnosed to see what is happening. You could have lost a wheel weight or it could be more major. If the repair was in the last year they could refer back to the original complaint, and you are also eligible for up to two after warranty adjustments where you pay like 20 percent of the repair. First step is to discuss the problem with the dealer who did the repair and see where the problem is.
If you have read any of my posts, then you know I have gone round and round with ford on this one. I have the dreaded front end shake that won't go away. As some suggested, I have tried to get out under the lemon law, but in Texas, it ain't happening for me. Here are the basic rules for TX and the lemon law
4 attempted repairs in 12 months for the same ailment
2 attemps in the first 24 months that result in 30 days of shop time.
I'm screwed because all of the problems developed after 24k.
I HATE my truck at this point. I am seriously considering taking at hit on it to get out (7k upside down due to depreciation 14ms after buying and I have the A plan). This will be the last Ford SUV I EVER buy.
I think your best bet is to work nicely with your service center and see if they can help. They could do anything from write this issue up as a continuation of the previous service visit (cover the repair under warranty) to claim it's a "new" problem (you'll be paying the bill). Perhaps even a 'deal' where each of you pays half to fix the problem.
Have you read any of the posts in the '04-'05 F150 forum? Sure sounds like they're having the same kinds of issues. One popular thought is that the steering system needs adjustment to remove excess play.
