ok been looking threw catalog for suspention and body parts for my old step side truck and most only list to 56 what is the difference between the 56 and the 58. sorry for the basic question but new guy here.
Some stuff canbe used but you'll have to be more specfic on the part. No body parts except stepside bed's and fenders will interchange. 57-60 is one model series. 1956 was a completly different truck. www.dennis-carpenter.com has a 57-66 catalog and www.macsantiqueauto.com has one. www.blueovaltruckparts. Hope this helps. -4speed
thanks 4 speed ok basically what i am looking for is :
one new rear door mount mirrors. No limit has some nice rear view but list them for factory mounts for 53-56. also looking to see if anyone has a drop spindle with disk brakes that will mount on the stock i beam suspention. also going to do the power steering conversion also, and eventually down the road i will be changing the rear end out to a ladder bar set up with coil overs.
Well, you won't find any dropped spindles for our trucks, but you will find power and manual disc brake upgrade kits. The only way to lower your front end is to
1) remove leafs
2) go to mono leafs like me
3) get your axle stretched by Mor-Drop (or if Cen-Pen would ever get their act together and get the dropped axles produced!)
Other than that, you'll have to do a whole grafted-in IFS from one source or another.
well mono leaf or remove is for sure out of the question due to the heavy diesel motor up front. and seeing that i want to keep the stock i beam guess the only way she's going down is smaller front tires. now who has the best power steering kit for the truck?
