4wd problem??

4wd problem??
2002 explorer awd....problem started this morning. when turning it acts like the 4x4 engages......hear a clunk and starts shuddering (only when turning). 4x4 high light is flashing. I've tried to put back in 4x4 auto but does the same thing while turning.
Any ideas before I take it to the shop?? 4.0 engine by the way.

update
OK....so, after work I go to pick up the truck and drive it to the dealer. Everything works fine. It goes in and out of 4x4 with no problem......but that was definately the problem this morning.
We've had a lot of rain lately and it was a lot cooler (with heavy dew) last night and this morning.
Could this have some effect? I've got a trip to Florida next week and know that the dealer won't be able to do anything unless it's happening when they have it. Anything I can do prior to my trip to be safe?? Flush transfer case maybe??
