Hood Latch

Good Morning,

I have a 98 Explorer and the hood latch cable broke. The hood is closed so I can't fix it. Any ideas the best way to get the hood open so I can repair.

Hood Latch

Check with Ford to see if your latch was recalled. I seem to remember a recall on the hood latches. I thought it was for the secondary latch failing which could cause your good to fly open if you didn't close it all the way. If that was what the recall was for, then it probably doesn't apply to your failure (unless Ford worked on it within the last 12 months/12K miles). You can call Ford's 800 number and ask them if yours was subject to the recall. The number can be found in the back of your Owner's Guide or at Ford's web-site www.ownerconnection.com.
