Disk brake Lifetime

Hi,

I bought a set of brake disks for my '85 F-250 at ebay the other day.
For $60......I think it was a good deal, was it?
Another good deal was a set of brake pads for $7 which I made a few weeks ago.

What I want to know is.....what is the average lifetime from the disks?
I know, it depend of where you life (Mountain or flat area) and how you drive.... I use always the first set of disks, with 264kmiles and 20 years not bad.

Do you still use the first?
...and what is the price for a set of disks?

Thanks

Jens

I think you're nuts to buy cheap brake parts. You get what you pay for. Cheap pads will crack, glaze, squeal, and sometimes even separate from the plate, among a host of other problems.

A *quality* set of brake pads should run you about $75. Anything that you buy at Pepboys, Autozone, etc., as far as brakes are concerned is absolute junk compared to the good stuff that's available.

oh, sorry I forgot to mention that the parts were quality parts, the pads are original Ford ones on the disks are from our dealer for US cars and trucks here in Germany. They sold the disks because they have to much of them and here is a F-Serie or the E Serie very rar. The dealer told me that he rather got less money of the worth as nothing.
