My 2002 Explorer with automatic transm. makes a little noise when shifting up, but only happens shifting up to 3rd or 4th (I'm not sure)
at 25 or 30 mph keeping that speed, in the other way, If I accelerate normaly to 40 to whatever mph, the noise does not happen.
Anyone knows about this?\
I believe I had the same problem. In my case, around 27 mph when the shift would occur there was a sharp noise or snap. First I thought I had run over a golf ball size rock; but that wasn't it. While it would not happen every time it shifted, it occurred 40 or more times. I had a TSB number (which I cannot locate at this moment) and took it to the garage. They reprogrammed the computer as the TSB suggested and the problem has totally disappeared.
If your service manager can't find it, I might be able to find the copy of the TSB somewhere around--no promise I still have it.
