How tight for mounting shocks?

I put on a set of Ranchos this weekend but not sure how tight the nuts on the shock head should be. I could squish down on those rubber bushings but I figure that'd be too tight.

I put the nuts on so they seem just about right but there was no installation info about how much tight they really need to be.

Thanks

Mark

I think my Haynes book says 12 ft. lbs., but that seemed too loose for me so I tightened them more. I tightened them until they were tight and backed them off 3/4 turn.

I, too, would like to know how they SHOULD be.

I just put some Gabriel shocks on, their instructions said to tighten them down until the rubber bushings squished to the same diameter as the washers on both sides of it. YMMV
