My Chilton manual specs 120 SAE net HP @ 3200 rpm, 245 ftlb @ 1600 rpm, 8.4:1 compression ratio.
FYI: The 1973-74 300's are rated at 168hp @ 3800 rpm/ 150 ftlb for the same compression ratio. Unless the cams were very different on the 73-74 models, that 48Hp loss is due mainly the the smog gear. The cam specs I've found are the same for all '73-'88 300's, so it shouldn't be a factor.
First thing I did to my 300 was give it a free exhaust and ditch the air pump. Didn't seem that alone gave 40+ horses, but there was noticable inprovement. Next was a 4bbl and EFI factory headers, and that provided a substantial boost.

That 168hp is gross horsepower in the mid '70's they switched to net horsepower. There were slightly different net hp ratings for the '73 to '85 300s 101, 115, 117, 120. Torque remained 223 lbs.ft. This is from the Standard Catalog of American Light-Duty Trucks. Not at all saying anything you posted is wrong just stating what the book says.
