Flowmaster mufflers

I bought my F250 V10 new in 2000. I only have 40,000 miles but have had no problems except for a noisy muffler at about 5,000 miles. I want to change to a Flowmaster but don't know what the V10 sounds like with that muffler. My wife wants the truck to stay quiet the way it is now. Just how much more "noise" will it make with a Flowmaster 40? Also, I had the cold start knock since day one until I changed to synthetic oil. Not a sound now.

Mike

FM 40 is quite a bit louder than stock. Mine runs through the stock tail pipe with a 4" tip and is pretty loud in the cab. You could go with a FM 70 or I have heard that the FM 40 delta flow is a little more tame. My truck sits for 3 or 4 days while im on duty and have the cold start knock with synthetic oil. But that is only when it sits for that long, no problem day to day.

I have a delta flow 40 series and it is loud, inside and outside the cab but I wanted that sound. A buddy of mine just put a delta flow 50 series and says that the noise in the cab is slight but great outside. But I haven't gotten to hear it yet.

Thanks for the replys. I guess I need to see if I can find one to listen to. My wife says I'm too old to have noisy mufflers. What does she know anyway..lol

The flowmaster 70 series was designed for late model suv's and pickups. I would think one would give a nice mellow sound to a V-10, as I have two of them on my '65 GTO with a built 400 and it sounds absolutely great around town and doesn't drone too bad on the highway. IMHO

Does anybody have a link to a sound clip of the Flows on a V10, or any other muffler, for that matter? I'm just curious to hear what they sound like.

Try www.exhaustsoundclip.com/ford.html to hear some sounds. I think they have a fw40 and aerochambers on a v10. Good luck.

Sorry, left an "s" off the end of "clips". This is the right link. Must be the late hour and tired fingers. Keep 'em rollin.

I am running a Banks cat back inside the truck a little more noise outside its a lot louder. My toy truck sits for days and when it's started it has noise with moble 1, my work truck driven every day no noise with moble 1.

I have sound clips of my V10 stock and with the banks PM me your email address and I will send them to you can't send clips with PMs regular email only. The one with the Banks is a lot shorter more noise more bits.

I have the Banks Power Pack and I swapped the dynoflow muffler with a FM 70 and I am very happy with the way it sounds.

Has anyone ever tried a Magnaflo? I have one on a 400 and it is quite deep but not too loud.

79Supercab400, i have two and love them and in my opinion they are better than Flow's.They are fairly quiet a idle, but rumble pretty good as rpm's increase.I have been waiting for someone to install a 3" Magnaflow on a single exhaust set up and report on sound and any hp gains.

I installed the Magnaflow 3" cat back single exhaust system on my V10 in April and like the sound. It does seem to resinate a little more than I would like and it seemed it took a while for the exhaust to burn off for the sound to get a little deeper but I like it now? One thing I do not like is the chrome tip has turned slightly gold in just very little time, looked great when I bought it though. As far as performance, not really sure, did not seem to add much though! I got a great deal on it directly from the manufacture who is right next door to our company so I really can't complain.
