The miles to go resets when the key is off. If you fuel with the engine running, it won't reset until the next time you shut down. I believe your mpg gauge works off the fuel flow sensors.

Good info. I didn't think about how the miles to empty really worked as I very seldom look at it. I agree the MPG must use a fuel flow sensor somewhere.

I'm sure the computer senses fuel flow and knows speed, and does the appropriate calculation. I'm assuming the miles to go is based in part on the mpg calculation and a sensor in the tank.. I have found it is pretty accurate, I usually wait until I'm pretty empty to fuel, which I know is a bad habit, and when it tells me I have 40 or so miles to go, the tank will need right at 26 to 27 gallons. The mpg calculation is always off on mine since I haven't had my speedo recalibrated for the bigger tires.

You can watch those parameters live with the Predator. The PCM and FICM does track those items.

Do not let your tank get that low... especially in the winter.

I read somewhere where there is a fuel return system or something to that extent and letting your fuel level get that low causes problems.

Personally, I fuel up when I get to a 1/4 of a tank and in the winter I keep it at 1/2 at the least and use anti-gel throughout winter.

I know letting it get that low is not good, it's a terrible habit.
Purple, I actually live at mile marker 298 on I-95. (well in the woods next to it).

Thanks, Purple!

Thanks Purple!
I will take a look & try & determine if mine is in the same place. I doubt Ford would change the temp. probe placement from 03 to 04.
