Yesterday fixed broken plug and exhaust.
Start her up and she runs fine ( no sparkplug bits in engine. )
Rev it a little and she leaks GAS from above the tank.

I need help dropping the tank and things to look for

How did you fix the exhaust? Did you watch out for the fuel lines if you were welding/cutting/drilling? All I can think of is a broken hose/cracked tank that would cause that.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe there was a recall on the fuel tanks for leaking. Maybe someone else could be more specific.

The fuel pump is located in the tank, the send/return/vent hoses come out of the top of the tank.

Drop the tank, unless there is an access hole on top (which I doubt). Or you can cut your own access hole.

Drive/syphon the tank so it is almost empty.

Jack up or drive the rear end up ramps.

Unscrew the the bolts that hold the filler neck to the fuel door area.

Using a jack and a 2x4, jack up the tank a little bit to relieve stress off of the tie down straps.

Unbolt the straps, and slowly lower the tank.

Edit: And don't smoke while doing it.

I have already tried to undo one bolt. I have to pull done on the bolt and then turn it. Is this normal?

I have not had to pull down on the a gas tank bolt, but I have never pulled a tank off of an Aero either, so it might be normal. Are they really rusty? Is so, you might have to cut them off.

Before you do this check to see if the recall was done on your tank. Ford has a recall on replacing fuel tanks that is free.

You can go to your local Ford Dealer, or call Fords 800# with your vin # ready.

I called a local Ford Dealer cause I seen the recall sheet online for Aerostars. You will also find out what else can be done for free.
