Steering wheel vibration in F-150
I recently purchased a 2004 Ford F-150 Supercrew and I had a vibration in the steering wheel when go it up to speeds between 70-75 mph. I took it back to the dealership and they rebalanced the tires, but it still has slight vibration. I also had a road force balance vibration done and their is still a vibration as well as more road sensitivity feel in the steering. Has any one else experienced this problem and did they have success in figuring out how to fix it.
Thanks

Go to Search at the top of the board; then Advanced Search; then type in nibble for the search word and select the 2004 Ford section. You'll find a wealth of information.

Hi-
Tell your service dept. to cut to the chase , adjust the preload on the rack and pinion steering. Most of them have hardly any preload , and they finally listened to me two weeks ago- Tightened it up , and the wheel is rock solid at 70-75 mph. Never so smooth - Try it!
I went through all the rest first with no luck -(tires, balance, rack replacement, re-balance, alignments, driveshaft repl.,etc)

I mentioned this procedure to my Service manager the last time I briught my truck in and he told me the rack could not not be adjusted with another preload setting. He said the rack needed to be replaced if they thought it was faulty.
It make sense to me, if the pre-load is very loose very little road fault will be felt through the wheel. I have printed this and will show my service manager.
