cs65: The '66 Pickups brochure says "Ranger Option adds bucket seat comfort, floor carpeting and fuel tank covering and, if you wish, convenient console between the seats."
Eric
If any of you elders out there know more details on the package, etc, let me know....The one Im looking at is a 65....any numbers as to production numbers or for sure ways to authenticate one...let me know...
Am presently awaiting a kind letter from FoMoCo about the one Im looking at as well as my other 65....A guy can never have too many trucks....BTW..I tried emailing a couple of you off the link in your posts, says my reply option is turned off...how do I access it and turn it back on ????
Thanks as always...cs65
PS, looking for a useable core support for a 66 1/2 ton 2wd...Im keeping its cherry original
John - I want to know everything, and I'm sure Don does too. A question I have today is about interior colours. I have the beige interior. I've never seen a beige Ranger and I think the Mustang, from which the seats were sourced, did not have a beige upholstery option. Would my truck (8M2 - yellow/white) be "correct" with a black interior, including a black column and wheel?
Eric
John...I do wanna know everything concievable...The one I am getting is a 65 w/B81 trim, which is blue(same as my other baby)...But the ranger package from what my parts book tells me is a 3 color option...red,black or fawn(beige/tan). The one Im getting is w/black seats and carpet, blue column/wheel....
Q: would the armrests be blue as column or black like seats/rug ?? Someone put some super cheesy gaugy things on....
Q: were all rangers automatics and if so were all the C/M or was it mixed up w/C-4's ???
Q; Was the console an option within the package in 65 as referrenced above by 6t6? Mine doesnt have the console....Weird thing..I went and traced the part numbers for the console and parts for it...lots of them are L/M part numbers!!!!
Lastly, anyone do the correct 2 piece rug for these or the gas tank cover ???
Mine also has C/S in the fender inserts, but from under the truck and scrutinizing the seat mounting, its original and correct as all bolts are same...
The cool thing is is this sucker is super tight...doors,hood(no pop up hinges) and closes with a couple of fingers with minimal effort....
Oh...the bed/tailgate....Im a happy Camper...get it...LOL....perfectomundo
The gate closes also with minimal effort and the bed has been covered by a camper Im told most of its life....I aint ever seen a 39+ yr old bed inside with this much unmolested paint inside of it....
Bad areas....Left door mirror had a slow abrupt removal(Jr West coast) and mirror assy survived...the door....needs a good bodyman....bottoms of both are super solid and clean.....I need an A/T cooler line...like 5/8 or 1/2 inch from the oil cooler at trans to fuel pump area...Mine has a big pinhole leak.............I may be on the prowl for a left fender too...good bottom, front area folded in a great deal....
And the best part....The core support and cab is good in all the important areas...needs minor repair at inside kick panel area....Ford shoulda put a note in the owners guide to clean out the crap trap as this is a weak area....
When I get it home and spruced up a bit Ill post some pix....I knew there was a good reason to buy a digital camera!!!!
But as to the package....prod. numbers by color code and model,w/w/o auto, etc....Basicly anything concievable that can be found.
Anyone in Wa area got a clean set of 16" splits with caps ????? I need a set....
I'm hoping that a friend is going to help me out with either a template or precise measurements of his original tank cover. It is made of vinyl, by the way - maybe the stuff they used for convertible top boots.
Eric
There really isn't a lot to the first ranger packages, mustang seats, comet console, floor carpet, gas tank cover (I've seen both vinyl and carpet) and fender badging.
I'm sorry but I'm not much help on the color thing, but maybe John da banjo picker can kick in a little info.
There are some photos of a 65 that I took at the Run to the rock show in the mountains of NC a few years ago, on my NCFTO site. The truck is usually there every year. For some reason the Netscape family browsers will not view the photos. http://forums.ncfto.org/photo_album_...r&mid=3&cid=70
Yeah, I saw that one...sweet....well the only thing thats different is this one is w/o console or the badging....but after close scutiny of the rug and seat install...its definately original...I got a querey into FoMoCo on it as well as my other beast....
Eric, I really don't have a clue, it never appealed to me so I haven't dug into the package details. I know there was a member over in the Cherryville NC area that did some research on them but I haven't seen him around in a while.
I do know from what I have read that some had vinyl and others carpet, but that's about my limit on the subject.
I have heard similar as to vinyl and carpet....if anyone has one that could be used for a pattern, that would be totally awesome....anyone know of a carpet kit for it ?????
