Exclamation Transmission problems

So now that I've got your attention, I don't really have an awesome idea. I have a 1994 F-150 5.8L 4 speed automatic transmission with a transmission/speedometer/ABS light problem. The transmission is acting like it doesn't know when to switch, and after it's about ready to redline, it SLAMS into the next gear. The ABS light is on, not sure why... The speedometer is ususally dead, but occasionally bounces between zero, and whatever speed I'm traveling. This is definately electrical, but I can't find it. Some guys said speed sensor, but I don't know what it looks like, where it is, or what a diferential is either. Apparently, it's on top of that. If there are any other ideas besides speed sensor, I'm all ears. Any help is much appreciated.

There is a speed sensor on top the big round thing under the back of the truck, remove it, put a new one in, install will be the reverse of removal.

Go out and crawl under your truck there's going to be a wire sticking out of your rear axel. That's your speed sensor. You pull any codes?

no codes... I haven't lept into that area of knowledge yet. I don't have or know what you'd need to pull codes. Interested, anyone with any info on this would be cool. I'm interested in maybe learning how to do this. Thanks guys.

Yes they are monitored. MustangGT221 is the moderator for this forum. I agree about the title, and the question at hand was already answered in another thread.

It's just a title anyway, not that big of a deal.

sorry about the mislabeled thread guys, but the title 'bucking transmission' doesn't get much attention. I guess I wasn't thinkin about the ENTIRE situation, just how to fix my problem. I apoligize.

All of those crazy abbriviations, We have a place here in town that sells a code reader that just hooks up to something under the hood, and tells you a code. All that check engine light blinking stuff sounds like confusing.

It's really not that bad once you do it once. All a code reader does is count blinks for you. I think there is a list of all the abbreviations on that site somewhere as well.

FghtinIrshNvrDie, did you get the speed sensor replaced? It's on the top center of the rear axle - you can't miss it.

found it, pulled it, o'reilly's can't find the part. I think it might still be a ford exclusive part... shoooooot... We'll see how it goes. I hope I can get it with relative ease. Haha, it's just a magnet counter thing... so simple. I hope no one tries to screw me with the price. thanks for your help guys.

Let me know if you find a solution as I am having the exact same problem with my 93 150..... for me it only seems to happen when it shifts from frist to second.... like it is shifting two seconds too late! but above 40kms per hour or so it seems to work fine, my speedometer stays at zero until i hit about 40kms per hour, and then it jumps up to 40 and works fine when staying above 40. Hopefully someone can clarify the problem cause it is driving me nuts... THanks fellas.
