Evacuating and recharging system

System is ready to be evacuated and refrigerant added. I've got a set of 134
guages that have a T fitting coming out of the center service port on the manifold. The T fitting has two available ports...one strait thru and the other with a Scrader valve. I belive the T fitting allows you to hook up both your vacuum source as well as your refrigerant source at the same time. My vacuum source is a venturi type that I will hook up to my compressor. I had to find a vacuum pump adapter fitting as the pump has a r12 1/4 inch flare tube fitting (7/16 x20 sae thread) to an acme 1/2 inch thread so I c an hook the yellow servce hose to it. I notice the adapter also has a Schrader valve
in it.

I need to hook the vacuum source to one of the fittings on the manifold T fitting. Which should I be using? I see that the knurled screw-on fitting on the yellow service hose won't depress the Schrader valve...so I assume I have to hook the vacuum source to the strait thru side of the T fitting on the manifold
But then I still wonder if the Schrader valve on the vacuum pump adapter
will have enough vacuum to open itself or am I suppose to pull the Schrader valve on the pump adapter to allow vacuum . (Maybe there's something
else I'm suppose to insert between the hose and the Schrader valve to keep it open?).

The other question is then which is the proper side of the T fitting to hook up the refrigerant to? I'm using the 12 oz cans so I have a small valve that I can shut off the source with.

Any help appreciated.

Geo.

Can you post a link to a picture of this system? Its a bit hard to visualize. Also, this venturi-type vacuum pump, will it pull at least 25 inches of vacuum, preferably close to 30?
