A/C help

I have a 1989 7.3 the A/C was fine until it blew warm air. I let the gas out , and I tried to recharge it but the compressor cycles continuously. I changed the orifice valve and the problems continues , the gas doesn,t get into the system. Do you think that it could be the dryer or the condenser?
I flash the hoses , evaporator and condenser, everything seems ok , the only concern that I have is that the condenser clogged because when i enter air to it, the air is released very slowly on the other end. Is this normal?
The main problem is that gas does not go in.

If it all of a sudden started to blow warm, there are likely problems with the system that aren't going to be cured by venting the refrigerant and replacing it. When you changed the orifice tube, was it clean, or were the aluminum chips/other debris in the screen?

When you opened the system to the atmosphere, did you evacuate it before recharging? Was it R12 or had it already been converted to R134a?

Oh boy, sounds like you're in over your head. Was this already converted over to 134a? You need to put a set of gauges on it to see what it's doing, maybe your compressor is bad.

if i remember correctly you will need to deep evacuate the system. and then re install the new 134a. Having air in the system will cause the compressor to cycle. Also if you have aluminum chips in the orfieus tube then you have a problem with the compressor which will need to be replaced and your system flushed. Also there may be contaminents in the dryer so the dryer will also be replaced which would be a good idea if the compressor is bad. You may also need to add A/C oil to the system for compressor.

I will be replacing the compressor on my truck this week and will be checking all the fun parts (orfius tube dryer etc).

Let me understand...that system had R12 and all you did was vent to the atmosphere (big no-no)?? And then you refilled with R134?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be totally honest with the shop you take this to for repair. It is really expensive to have those refrigerant recovery systems serviced.

You now have a contaminated system.. EEK!!!

That system needs to be pulled down to -17 in and left for 30 miutes. R134 works exceptionally well on an otherwise stock setup. Since you opened the system, you ned to replace the filter dryer as well. Refill with 8oz of PAG and R134 and be cold!
