I need to get to the lights behind the gauges. Has anyone written a how to on this? Or would anyone like to give me a quick how to or some pointers?
Thanks.
well, if your dash is like mine, first rip off the portion of the dash that surrounds the gauges. do this by taking off the 2 pieces of trim similar to the one that says XL or XLT on it. just use a screwdriver to pry those off, they'll come off reletively easily. use a star bit to remove the screws in place. take off your headlight switch cap. you'll need something small to slide into an opening to wedge it off. unplug any switches you might have, or if you have dual tanks, go ahead and unplug that so you can remove the dash, and get it way out of your way.
now, your dash should yank off. as long as you removed the screws, don't be afraid to tug that thing till it pops off. now your gauge assembly should be easy to take off with some more star bit screws, surrounding the gauges. the top ones are tough to get to, but doable. take it off, disassemble it, remember where you put everything, and put it back together the way you found it. good luck!
