I bought my 2003 F250 6.0 PSD crew cab 4x4 FX4 off road with 17000 miles on it for $29000 today, How long does it take to break in the diesel or is it already, its my first one.

Should be pretty close to broken in. Depends on how the 17000 miles were put on it. How does it run? What is the build date?

I'd go to a ford dealership and ask them to run an Oasis report on your VIN. Some of the 03 6.0's had a lot of problems so I'd think it'd be nice to know if you have one of them. I hope that's not the case but I'd check anyway.

My 03 6.0 w/15k on it got bought back by Ford on Monday. I keep thinking someone else is going to get stuck with that lemon since the title doesn't have to be branded on just a DSB buy back like mine.

And of the 10s of thousands of these built some are running just fine. Good advice to have the dealer run an OASIS and tell you what has been done. Or you can get the VIN and run it http://6literpowerstroke.flatratetech.com/ Message Forums, OASIS, post the VIN and have them tell you the history. I have an early 03 with almost 20,000 miles. It runs great and I would and have taken it anywhere. Some have had a bad experience and will rarely say anything good. Others have had great experience. Go for it You will like it. The key is having access to a good service department with a certified diesel tech that is not just a part changer but knows his stuff.

Buy the way, I shopped pretty hard for a used one before buying a new 04, you got a good deal. I have seen 01-02's going for that or more. Way to go.

I completely agree with your point about the good service dept. and good techs. it just seems like the dealers or maybe ford are dragging there feet about getting techs trained on the 6.0.
