I put new brakes pad on the PSD about 5K ago and everything has been ok, untill yesterday. It took a notion to pull badly to the right. Did it a couple of times braking and then happen to back out of a parking space and the next brake application was ok. Was ok untill this afternoon and it done it again. After backing up it was ok again. Took it apart and see no problem with the pads or no evidence of anything that would have been caught between the rotor and pads (small rock, etc). Did find one of the caliper pins kinda stickey. Cleaned it up and put some grease on it and even changed it to the other hole. Seemed to be better but just wonder what your thoughts might be if the problem continues. Thanks.
CHECK YOUR CENTER PINS... the same happened to me, only to find that the one of my rear leaf spring packs had begun to come apart because the center pin had backed its way up and out. the center pin is te vertical one which goes through the middle of the leafs, securing them as a pack. check the top to make sure it is still in, and check the bottom to make sure that the bolt did not shear off halfway through the leaf pack(which happens a lot)

Well the problem still exist's. Did it again yesterday afternoon. Will look at the center pins on the springs. Makes me wonder why that would effect it but will look anyway. Any other ideas?
well if you think abou it, the pin keeps the leafs together, which braces the axle to the frame.now if the pin backs out just slightly, that tire has more "play" than the other. u wont realize it until u hit the brakes hard, and get a "quadrasteer" result. w/o the saftey of course.
anyway i hope this makes sense, jus ate lunch, so brain is dead

trakman does it always pull to the same side? what year and model is your psd? I'm going through the same thing with my 01 cc 4X4. Found a tsb from ford on all data, dated 9/03 concerning this very problem on f250, f350, and excursions. Let me know and i'll try to get you a copy. take care, Hossy.
All good suggestions, could be a front caliper hanging up, a hose that is clogged internally some how. Have you checked the rear brakes? They can make it pull too.
A loose wheel bearing will do just what you are describing too. The wheel will wobble and push the caliper pistons back into the bore just a little and then the next time you brake you will get full braking power on the good side followed by the loose side making contact with the rotor and the brakes will straighten out for a short time. Drive it around for a bit and the wobbly wheel will push the caliper out again. If you use the brakes a lot you won't notice it but put a few miles on it without using the brakes and it gets pretty scary, jumping to one side.
trakman i emailed you the tech bulletin. I did the rotor pad swap from side to side and sure enough the pull switched sides. I guess i'll turn the rotors and try the ford specified pads.
1997 F350 SC with very inconsistent brake pull. Some times to the right, sometimes to the left, and sometimes a jerk, and sometimes just a little bit. Was time for a front end overhaul, so had that done by a friend at Les Schwab. Had it realligned. Still does it. Just had the front brake lines replaced with a full brake job and still does it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Sounds like some of the ideas above might be something to check into with rear end stuff.
