stepside information

I just put a stepside bed on my 78, and never took into consideration that even though the stepsides look alike, the older ones are narrower. Can anyone give me the measurements for a later 70's stepper? As far as I know, the bed is off of a 62 Ford as that is what the fenders said when I sanded all the paint off. I mainly need the width so that I can widen it a little bit. Or am I better off to keep it as is and let the tires fling mud all around. Thanks.

I believe the width (on the inside of the bed) of a 62 is 49", and that of a 78 is 54". I got that from the mar-k web site....

You are right on that Rhodie, I measured the inside awhile back and it was at 49" I just wasnt sure of the 70s model. It shouldnt be too much work to widen it. Thanks again.
