chips ??
Really, are you hand calculating it and filling it to the same level ech time waiting for the foam to die down so you can be consistent ?
my wife cracks up over how **** i am filling the truck.... wed was fillup day, i had 379 miles on the odo, and fillup took 20.9 gallons........... 18.14 mpg!
keep in mind, my odo is still setup for the stock 235/85/16 tires (31.5" tall) and i now run a 295/75/16 (33.4" tall)........... but, i read here many times about how people have cheacked their actual speed with a gps, and with the 295's it's closer than with the stock tires......... how true this is, i have no way of knowing......... i am way to cheap to buy a gps, i have no use for one other than calculating my actual speed.
My normal driving is 124 miles round trip, 6 days per week. I carry 1500-2150# cargo in the box, one way. I am averaging 14.43 since I bought the truck. Since it is also my personal vehicle, it does not see the miles my other 32 trucks do. I can say this-it beats the h@ll out of any my 7.3's, stock 6.0's, Duramax or Cummins delivery trucks-both inpower and mileage.

I think what you stated is the key to alot of the mpg "problems" you will run across in this forum. Lead foot. Some people have it to the floor all the time and can't figure out why thier mileage sucks. I keep it to the floor alot, and it gets DECENT mileage. When you use the throttle with moderation it reallly boosts the mileage. You hit the nail right on the head there. (And might have even broke the head off)
